Main Article Content
Abstract
Project-Based Learning (PBL) has emerged as an effective approach for enhancing student literacy in high schools. This article discusses how PBL can address literacy challenges among students, focusing on the development of reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. PBL provides students with opportunities to engage in authentic projects that are directly related to relevant topics, encouraging them to apply knowledge and skills in real-world contexts. Through this approach, students not only improve their reading and writing abilities but also enhance their skills in analysing, evaluating, and constructing arguments. PBL integrates various disciplines, allowing students to see connections between different areas of knowledge and deepen their understanding. For example, projects involving research on social issues can develop information literacy skills while increasing social awareness and empathy. The article also outlines best practices for implementing PBL, including selecting appropriate projects, careful planning, and ongoing assessment. Emphasis is placed on the importance of student involvement in designing and executing projects, as well as the role of the teacher as a facilitator guiding the learning process. With a project-based approach, students are expected to develop stronger literacy skills, benefiting not only their academic performance but also their daily lives. In conclusion, project-based learning not only enhances literacy skills but also motivates students to engage in more meaningful and comprehensive learning. This article provides insights into how PBL can be adapted and applied in high school classrooms to achieve better literacy outcomes and promote the development of 21st-century skills.
