Abstract
This article aims to provide a conceptual explanation of Digital Media Ethics. Understanding digital ethics is not merely about complying with applicable laws but also entails awareness of the social, economic, and psychological impacts of our online actions. For instance, the dissemination of hoaxes can lead to public distrust in genuinely valid information, while hate speech can damage interpersonal relationships and disrupt societal peace. Key challenges in the context of digital ethics include the need to verify information before dissemination, respect others' privacy, and avoid content that is harmful or violates social norms. This is reinforced by legal regulations such as the Information and Electronic Transactions Act (ITE Law) in Indonesia, which aims to protect the public from misuse of digital technology. The article also offers practical advice for individuals to adhere to digital ethics, including the importance of verifying information before sharing, using polite language in online interactions, and reporting negative content to relevant authorities or platforms. Continuous education on digital ethics is considered crucial to enhancing public awareness of responsible actions in using digital technology.
